What is Reinforcing Process/Loop?
A reinforcing loop is a powerful cycle that makes a change happen faster in the same direction. It is a self-growing process that can lead to either rapid growth or a rapid collapse. Think of it as a snowball rolling downhill — the more it rolls, the bigger it gets, which makes it roll even faster.
These loops are often called “virtuous cycles” when the outcome is good, such as a popular product leading to more money for better marketing, which creates more sales. They are called “vicious cycles” when the outcome is bad, such as a company’s bad reputation leading to fewer sales, less money for quality, and an even worse reputation. The key is that the cycle always keeps growing on its own.
